Health Committee

Mission Statement

The Health committee will provide current feline health information to TIBCS members to insure that breeders and owners provide the best care possible for our developing Bengal Breed.

The Health Committee will:

  • 1) contact veterinary professionals and research sources to ensure accurate information is supplied to the membership;
  • 2) provide the membership with articles, brochures, or FAQ sheets containing information collected through review of publications, internet sources, & professional veterinary contacts and institutions; and
  • 3) network with and coordinate efforts with those involved in studies pertaining to health issues facing the Bengal breed.

    Specifically, the members of this committee agree to:

  • 1) submit a quarterly progress report to the Executive Board & membership outlining the Committee's activities, to be written by the Chair of this Committee;
  • 2) provide one Article per quarter to TIBCS Bengal Bulletin and make it available on-line; and
  • 3) encourage open communication with the membership by seeking input on health issues & responding to queries with appropriate information which can be used in conjunction with a member's veterinary resource.

    Our breed deserves no less than our best efforts to keep them happy and healthy.

  • 2006 Projects

    The Health Committee has committed to several projects this year:

  • 1) Article on Hip Dysplasia, Luxating Patella & the Hind End.....for the Summer Bulletin
  • 2) SYNOPSIS of CURRENT HEALTH INFORMATION column which condenses the latest information on a variety of health subjects for the membership, to be available in each Bulletin and as a download from TIBCS website.
  • 3) Composing a "Letter to Your Veterinarian about Your Bengal" which will be available to TIBCS members to provide their pet buyers.
  • 4) Initiate a Bengal study on Tritrichomonas foetus coordinate with Dr Marks & Dr. Gookin; perhaps setting up Bengal Pouch test kit collections at various show congresses which will include a system to ensure anonymity.
  • 5) Set up a webpage on TIBCS website for Health related downloadable articles & FaQ sheets
