THE BENGAL RESCUE NETWORK

TIBCS does not rescue bengals, but does promote and support The Bengal Rescue Network, which is a national organization of volunteers. All of its members are active Bengal cat enthusiasts who truly care about these cats' health, welfare and happiness. We hope to ensure that NO Bengal cat roams the streets, goes hungry, sleeps in the cold, requires attention, lacks affection or remains alone to face an uncertain future.

Cats in the care of rescue are not usually defective in any way. They almost always end up in rescue through no fault of their own. An owner may become too ill to care for their pet, or may even die. Allergies to cats can sometimes take a period of time to develop, causing an owner to have to relinquish their beloved pet after a period of time. Sometimes a new baby arrives, an owner has an unexpected move overseas or across country, or got a pet without thinking about the fifteen-year plus commitment that pet ownership requires. In rare cases, a pet is taken in after being ordered removed from an abuse or neglect situation.

Here is a heartwarming story about a recent rescue from Texas:

I just want to share a quick story about one of the Amazing Grace Rescue kitties that was recently adopted out.

He is a hero and is guaranteed a home and abundant catnip for life! Not that he was not already.

This weekend he was being a guard cat by standing at the screen on the porch and chattering away in a very unusual fashion until Steve, his adopted dad, came over to see what the ruckus was all about.

There right beside the steps was a rattlesnake. Not super large, maybe 2 1/2 feet but just as poisonous as the big ones. Steve promptly killed the rattlesnake and praised his kit Nico for being the vigilant guard cat and keeping everyone safe. --- Suzi

Lucy Lou Lucy Lou is an older female bengal that is friendly and will lay on your lap and sleep on your bed. She loves to tunnel her way under the covers and sleep IN your bed during the day! She enjoys children, other cats and watching TV with you in the evenings. Although Lucy Lou has had some dental problems in the past, she is able to eat well. She recently had a complete dental and had one tooth removed and also a broken tooth root removed. She has perfect litter habits and has never had an accident.
